mina's not a bad person, but when it really counted, she made a terrible choice. when it came down to angering her parents or getting her brother somewhere safe, she chose the path that would save herself. now, she has to face that choice. blake, her brother, is gone, and now she has to find him.
sunder is a story about guilt. about betraying your loved one, trying to escape the utter despair of your failure until there's nothing left of you. unfortunately for mina, her despair has been given flesh. ooey, gooey flesh… yuck. this monster isn't just a hack n' slash beast either. it attacks our mina by stripping her senses away. smell, taste, sight, hearing, and finally, touch.
this gives us a great opportunity. once mina goes blind, our diligent team of animators will take over, depicting a squiggly mina wandering in a black void, her surroundings only briefly revealed by sounds and sensations. you actually saw our test footage in the video, so you already know it's gonna be awesome.
short answer: me! long answer: i'm aidan sullivan, and i'm a film student at the university of new mexico and (plan to) graduate this may. i've done sound design for both live action and animated works, and i'm a firm believer that the monster is one of the greatest tools in storytelling. that's why this has a monster in it, duh.
i've been quietly working on this story in the background for the last few years, and now, i think it's finally ready to be made! part of what's taken me this long to get sunder out the door is how vulnerable this story feels for me. i've drawn from many of my personal life experiences; my fears, my insecurities, my regrets. dude, it's like… a window into my soul, maaaan. if you wanna peer into that window, through a grainy, fuzzy lens, then i entreat thee, nay, i beckon thee!
none of this would be getting made if it wasn't for my incredible lead producer, sabrina falkowsky. on top of a long history of costuming, sabrina's brand spanking new production company, darling film co., is handling everything from casting, budgeting, and even the wicked graphic designs you see before you. they're also the reason i get to put this fundraiser on the pool, thanks sabrina!
the pool is a creation of dust wave to make crowdfunding easier for everyone! unlike all those other crowdfunding platforms, dust wave doesn't take any pesky fees from the campaign. this means all the money you donate lands directly in our hands. for those of you who haven't already heard of them, dust wave is a filmmaking collective based in albuquerque, new mexico. thank you dust wave for letting us use the pool so we don't have to give some corporation a cut of our funds!
since this film stars a big scary monster, it's gonna be portrayed by a performer in a costume. a costume which will be rather costly to create. not to mention we've gotta pay for locations, equipment, food so our crew doesn't starve– you guys get it! the more we earn, the better the film can turn out. and if we reach that super-ultra-awesome $10,000 stretch goal, we'll even be able to pay the entire sunder team for their hard work bringing my project to life. instead of just, you know, two thumbs up.
so whatever. premise sounds cool, glad this means a lot to you, but what's in it for meeee?! glad you asked! as thanks for your generosity, depending on which tier you pledge, you'll have an assortment of goodies shipped straight to you! some of these rewards include exclusive behind the scenes assets. i'm talkin' concept art, storyboards, blooper reels, and even interviews with the cast and crew!
if behind the scenes content doesn't tickle your fancy, don't worry about it! we also got posters, your own personal dvd of the film, a cd of the film's original soundtrack, and even free tickets to the film's premiere! you literally don't have an excuse! we've thought of everything! it's over! don't want any of that crap? forget about it! just a simple tier 1 donation will land you a special thanks in the film's credits.
we also have some stretch goals. if we reach $5,000, every donor will get access to an additional bts documentary! reach $6,000 and we start reaching into the "torture aidan" categories. i'll willingly eat a carolina reaper for all my lovely donors to laugh at. but $10,000?? dear god, that's enough to pay our entire crew! for such an amazing goal getting reached, i, aidan allen sullivan, will turn myself into the authorities, where my execution by paintball firing squad will be broadcast for all you lovelies to see. if we get even more than that, we might just send out a video of aidan shaving sabrina's head to all the donors. just food for thought, i know some of you were on the fence on donating until you heard that!
yeah, you're right. we're asking for your money but haven't even warned you about the risks. a fun fact about the pool: even if you donate to us, you'll only get charged if we make all the money we're asking for. so if we don't get enough money to make this movie, don't worry about it! it won't hurt your bank account, only sabrina's!
"but what if the movie sucks?" well beauty is in the eye of the beholder, all art is subjective, and we hope that you're donating to us because you believe that we can make a good movie. also, we have a wicked team behind sunder, and they're going to make the best movie they can make!

We did it!
Oh em eff gee. Guys. We reached our fundraising goal! And with 3 days to spare!
Thank all of you so much for believing in this project, believing in me, and believing in my team. I swear on the Old Testament God, the New Testament God, Allah, the entire Greek pantheon, the entire Sumerian pantheon, and the Egyptian pantheon that we will NOT let you down!
I’m sure you’re all eager to know what’s next for Sunder, and you should be happy to know that your work here is done!
For us, on the other hand, May’s gonna be a busy month:
Actor rehearsals
Finalizing locations
Gathering equipment
Completing the monster costume
Shooting the damn thing by the end of May
After the animators work their magic and we get Robin’s thumping score in, we’ll have a film.
All thanks to you guys who’ve trusted little old me with all this money.
Thanks, guys. I won’t let you down!

4 days left!
Hello generous patrons.
We have reached the final week of our fundraiser, and we only need $400 left to go!Holy-camoly! Thanks to all ya-all, we managed to hit ⅓ of our goal on the very first day, and over HALF within the first week!Gadzooks! That’s a lot of money! I am so grateful for everyone who’s believed in me and left donations, especially in this crummy economy.
The director in repose.
That being said, making youtube poop kickstarter promos isn’t all we’ve been up to, we’ve been doing a lot of boring stuff too. I’ve been working with Chance, our director of photography, to crank out that shotlist.
Chance and Jerome scouting
Gotta lot of cool imagery in store for you, and our cast has been finalized since before we even opened this fundraiser! We’ve also done some location scouting! Attached are some photos from our most recent scout of a house that’ll play a pretty important role in the film honk honk.
Everything’s starting to take a tangible form rather than just vague rattlings in my head. That’s thanks to my endlessly talented producers who have kept the project's momentum rolling despite our insanely crowded schedules. With all the work my awesome team has been doing, I’ve never been more excited about this project than I am right now!
We just need a little more help getting through this final stretch. So, if you know a guy who just came into $400 and doesn’t know what to do with it, you know where to send them to!
Todavía no hay entradas.
We Wrapped!
That's a wrap!
Backers,
I’m very happy to announce that, at 3am yesterday, we wrapped sunder!
In case you were wondering: it came out great. Three very long, 15-hour days with lots of ball-busting locations, shots, and logistical rigamarole. Luckily, we had a hard-working team that put together some great stuff.
I’m super jazzed to soon show you some behind-the-scenes pics from this weekend. Check out that monster costume — everybody was freaked the hell out.
Next up, we move to the edit and animation. This’ll take a while, but we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
But first, we’re gonna take a week to relax. We’ve been hustling to get to this point since, uhhhh, November? That’s a bloody long time, mate!
With that being said, I can confirm with 100% certainty that this film will be FIRE, HEAT, GAS, and SEVERAL OTHER INFERNAL-THEMED ATTRIBUTES.
Thank you all for your continued support and patience. The biggest hurdle is over. Now it’s time to put it all together!
